Our First General Meeting Since COVID

by Denise Oliva

Old Metairie Garden Club hosted their first General Meeting since COVID on Tuesday, July 13 at Porter & Luke’s Restaurant where the architect and project manager for the Bayou Metairie Park renovations, Delaney McGuinness of Dana Brown and Associates spoke to the full room of neighbors about the park’s design features.

Delaney explained the capability of the park to absorb rainwater, the native plants/grasses used for drainage, and where those could be purchased by homeowners in the area.  Additionally, Delaney stated the park was specifically designed for the Old Metairie Garden Club’s Farmers Arts Metairie Market (FAMM) and could be used by schools and other organizations for many other types of events.

Special features of the park include a stage area for live music; electricity along the weeping wall that encircles the park, a large, living Christmas tree,  more parking for people who will visit the park.

Neighbors in attendance were gleeful with all the attributes of the new park!
